AROUND PINETIME CABIN
If you've had your fill of the local brewery and restaurants, and finished seeing all the historical sights, and maxed out your credit card from all your antique shopping... there are plenty of other outdoor activities in and around the Pine - Strawberry area.
It all depends on your adventure level...
HORSEBACK RIDING
One of the neighbors on Hardscrabble has horses that will eat out your hand but I've never seen them ridden. Kohl's Ranch past Payson and I am asking my Pine neighbors if they can recommend a place too.

FOREST ROADS & ATV TRAILS
The closest is taking Hardscrabble until it turns into FR-428 which will take you all the way to Strawberry the long bumpy FUN way. Have seen people complete this bumpy ride in a regular 2WD car - they just had to go ultra slow over the extra rocky bits. Mud bog at your own risk! Mogollon Rim Road (aka FR-300) will take you to 7,000 feet elevation to the rim and is a 200 mile long mountain plateau.
HIKING & MOUNTAIN BIKING
Some local trails include: The Arizona Trail, Pine Trailhead, Pine-Strawberry Trail, Highline Trail, Donahue Trail, & Forest Roads 427 & 428. Or hop in the car and head to Box Canyon Trailhead, Tonto Fish Hatchery, and Tonto Natural Bridge is always a fun place to hike and enjoy the cool water below.
KAYAKING & BOATING
Fossil Creek, Blue Ridge Reservoir, Waterwheel, Woods Canyon Lake, Black Canyon Lake, Willow Springs Lake, and more are nearby. For just a quick stop for the kids to splash around and look for crawdads, swing into the parking lot of East Verde River on your way to Payson.
